Actor Ben Freeman has taken leave from 'Emmerdale' in order to fight a legal battle after being charged following rape allegations.
According to an 'Emmerdale' spokesperson, Freeman, who plays Scott Windsor in the show, has also withdrawn from 'Soapstar Superstar', which is due to air in January.
The spokesperson said: “Ben Freeman has asked for leave of absence from 'Emmerdale' to enable him to fight the legal proceedings he is facing in Barbados."
"We agree it would be best to rest his character from the show until the matter is resolved."
"At Ben's request, he will stand down from all other engagements including 'Soapstar Superstar'.”
The actor was charged with the alleged offence earlier this month after being accused of raping a woman while on holiday in Barbados.
