Britney Spears topped the list of the most searched for terms through the Yahoo search engine in 2006.
Yesterday the US net giant revealed that more online searches were done to find out about Spears than any other topic or person.
This is the pop star's fifth time topping the list in the six years that Yahoo has been ranking annual search queries. She was beaten into first position by Paris Hilton in 2004.
Other female celebrities that dominated the top 10 overall search list included Shakira, Jessica Simpson and Hilton at numbers two, three and five respectively.
The top news story search during the year was the accidental death of Australian crocodile hunter Steve Irwin, followed by the death of the son of former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith.
