Irish singer Damien Leith was crowned winner of 'Australian Idol' at the Sydney Opera House at the weekend.
The 30-year-old pharmacist originally hails from Milltown in Co Kildare but now lives in Sydney.
He competed against teenager Jessica Mauboy in the final of the singing contest and later managed to secure enough public votes to win the show.
Speaking afterwards, Leith thanked his supporters: "You voted, you stuck behind us. We'd be nothing without you."
The singer, who won a recording contract with Sony BMG as part of his prize, has already released his first single 'Night Of My Life'.
