The Bill call in real police after burglary

Crew working on 'The Bill' had to call in the real police when burglars raided the set of the ITV show, detectives said today.

Expensive editing equipment and a tape was taken during the burglary at the south-west London studios on Wednesday morning.

A police spokesman said a man wearing a high visibility jacket made his way past security staff, after pulling up in a Transit van and following a real worker inside.

A spokeswoman for the show said a tape was in one of the stolen machines.
