'The OC' star Mischa Barton has been cast in a contemporary adaptation of 'Alice in Wonderland' called 'Malice in Sunderland'.
Production Weekly reports that the film tells the story of an American student who is hit by a London taxi.
After the accident she becomes disoriented and finds herself in Sunderland, where strange encounters ensue.
The film is due to begin shooting in the UK early next year.
