Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon has split from her actor husband Ryan Phillippe after seven years of marriage.
Representatives for the couple confirmed the news in a joint statement, saying: "We are saddened to announce that Reese and Ryan have decided to formally separate."
"They remain committed to their family and we ask that you please respect their privacy and the safety of their children at this time," the statement said.
Witherspoon and Phillippe, who married in June 1999, have two children together, a seven-year-old daughter called Ava and a three-year-old son named Deacon.
Witherspoon, who shot to fame after starring in the 'Legally Blonde' movies, won the Best Actress Oscar last year for her portrayal of June Carter in the Johnny Cash biopic 'Walk The Line'.
Phillippe recently filmed for Clint Eastwood's latest movie 'Flags of Our Fathers'.
