Comedy star Jimmy Tarbuck has been forced to drop out of the reality show 'Strictly Come Dancing' due to ill health.

The 66-year-old entertainer has been advised by doctors to withdraw from the dance show.

Speaking about his decision, Tarbuck said: "I'm absolutely devastated that I can no longer take part in 'Strictly Come Dancing'."

"I would like to thank my wonderful partner Flavia who has taught me so much and been patient in trying to turn this old cart-horse into a proper dancer. I will really miss training with her."

"I will continue to enjoy watching the show and will be there in person on Saturday to see how my fellow contestants are shaping up now their hottest competition is out of the way!"

A BBC spokesperson said: "Regretfully, Jimmy Tarbuck will no longer be taking part in the rest of 'Strictly Come Dancing' due to health reasons."

"Following a doctor's assessment this week, Jimmy, the doctors and the BBC have come to the decision that for the good of Jimmy's health he should no longer take part."
