X Factor star missing her toddler son

'X Factor' hopeful Kerry McGregor has said that it is "absolutely heart-wrenching" being separated from her toddler son while competing in the show.

Kerry, who is wheelchair-bound after breaking her back when she fell from a tree at the age of 13, has been forced to leave her 17-month-old son Joshua in the care of his grandmother, while she lives with her fellow contestants in London.

She said: "It's absolutely heart-wrenching. I've left him with my mum and I'm desperately missing him, I want to see him so much."

"Life is a raw deal. But at the end of the day the only restrictions you have are the ones you place on yourself."

"It's going to make me a stronger person. And if he can see his mum giving it her all it will show him that it's possible to achieve something that seems impossible. He's going to benefit from it," she said.
