Television star Carol Voderman has made it clear that she does not want to host quiz show 'Countdown', on which she currently acts as the number-cruncher.

Des Lynam announced his decision to leave the show last week, after hosting it for a year and a half.

After being tipped as favourite to host the show, Voderman said: "Please don't put a bet on me as I'm really not going to be the new host of Countdown. Save your money."

"I love the job I have and hope to be by the numbers board for many years to come."

"But it's exciting to see so many names have shown interest in taking on the role because as far as I'm concerned it's one of the best two jobs in television, mine being the other one," she said.

Noel Edmonds, Eamonn Holmes and Des O'Connor have been tipped by bookmakers to take the job.
