Carol Voderman has been installed as the favourite to replace Des Lynam as host of quiz show 'Countdown', after Lynam announced that he is quitting the show.
Making the announcement about his decision, Lynam said: "We do five shows in a day which everybody finds extremely tiring. It's the sort of schedule I don't want to commit myself to any more."
"I've decided that after a year and a half, that'll do nicely. I'm going to withdraw and save the wear and tear."
Bookmakers William Hill have currently listed Carol Voderman as the 4/1 favourite to replace Lynam when he leaves at Christmas time.
William Hill spokesperson Tony Kenny said: "The early money has been for Carol to cross the floor and become the host, but there are a lot of contenders to take the countdown hot seat."
