Borat, the bungling Kazakh reporter played by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, was denied entry to the White House yesterday by Secret Service Agents when he arrived at the gates to invite "Premier George Walter Bush" to a screening of his new film.

The in-character publicity stunt by Cohen was timed to coincide with a meeting between Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and US President George W Bush today.

Cohen has been warned he faces legal action from the Kazakh government over the character.

Speaking to Reuters, Kazakh press secretary Roman Vasilenko said: "He is not a Kazakh. What he represents is a country of Boratastan, a country of one."

'Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan' opens in Irish cinemas in November.
