Steve Irwin's eight-year-old daughter has spoken about her father at a public memorial service to honour his life.
The memorial service, which was broadcast live around Australia, Asia and the United States, was held at the Croceseum at Irwin's Australia Zoo.
Speaking at the ceremony, Bindi Irwin said: "My daddy was my hero, he was always there for me when I needed him."
"We filmed together, caught crocodiles together and loved being in the bush together. I want to help endangered wildlife just like he did," she said.
Steve's father Bob also spoke at the service, saying: "Please don't grieve for Steve, he's at peace now, but I'd like you to grieve for the animals, for the animals have lost the best friend they ever had, and so have I."
Among those who paid tribute to Steve Irwin on taped messages were Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe, actor Kevin Costner, singer Justin Timberlake and actress Cameron Diaz.
