George Clooney is to star in and direct 'Leatherheads', a romantic comedy about the foundation of professional American Football in the 1920s.
Variety reports that Renée Zellweger is in talks to co-star in the film.
Clooney is currently rewriting the script for the film.
'Leatherheads' is due to begin production in the spring.
