Award-winning singer-songwriter Van Morrison will be honoured by the US-Ireland Alliance at its second annual Los Angeles Oscar Wilde: Honouring Irish Writing in Film pre-Academy Awards party in February 2007.

Two additional honourees will be announced at a later date.

Last year's event recognised Neil Jordan, Jim Sheridan and David Holmes at a party which was attended by Jodie Foster, Anjelica Huston and Disney Chairman Dick Cook.

A native of Belfast, Morrison has one of the most enduring careers in music history and this year he released a new album, 'Pay The Devil'.

His songs have been included in almost fifty films including the soon-to-be released Scorsese film, 'The Departed', as well as 'Breakfast on Pluto', 'The Royal Tenenbaums', 'Bridget Jones's Diary', 'One Fine Day', 'When a Man Loves a Woman', 'Thelma & Louise', 'An Officer and A Gentleman', and 'As Good As It Gets'.

The US-Ireland Alliance is a non-profit organization created to foster ties between the US and Ireland.
