Midwives slam Eastenders plot

BBC soap 'Eastenders' has been slammed by midwives in the UK for its portrayal of a mother giving birth to a baby who has Down's Syndrome.

They say the episode is full of inaccuracies and presented a poor picture of its practices.

The soap character Honey was told about her baby's condition while alone and then left to worry about it.

UK midwife Sue Jacob said: "This is a big issue. We do whole classes on breaking bad news.

"We are concerned people will wrongly think this Down's syndrome story shows what really happens, and that if you have a problem there is no one there to support you."

But the BBC said: "We have received incredibly positive feedback."
