Helen Mirren and Ben Affleck were among the winners at the Venice Film Festival at the weekend.
Mirren was named Best Actress for her performance as Queen Elizabeth II in Stephen Frears' 'The Queen'.
Affleck was named Best Actor for his portrayal of TV 'Superman' star George Reeves in the film 'Hollywoodland'.
Best Picture went to the Chinese film 'Still Life' while Alain Resnais won the Best Director award for his film 'Private Fears in Public Places'.
'The Queen' opens in Irish cinemas this Friday, 15 September.
