REM and original drummer Bill Berry are to reunite next week to play three songs at the ceremony to mark the band's induction into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.
Billboard reports that the show on 16 September in Atlanta will only be the fourth time that Berry has played live with REM since he left the band in 1997.
The last time Berry appeared onstage with Michael Stipe, Peter Buck and Mike Mills was at a show by Buck's side project, the Minus 5, in Athens, Georgia, in April.
After their induction into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame REM will begin work on their next album.
