Blunt won Best Male Video for 'You're Beautiful', with Clarkson taking home the Best Female Video award for 'Because of You'.
Panic! at the Disco won Video of the Year for 'I Write Sins Not Tragedies' and Best Group Video went to The All-American Rejects for 'Move Along'.
Pink was the winner in the Best Pop Video category for 'Stupid Girls', the Best R&B Video award went to Beyoncé featuring Slim Thug for 'Check on It' and Black Eyed Peas won Best Hip-Hop Video for 'My Humps'.
Pussycat Dolls won Best Dance Video for 'Buttons' featuring Snoop Dogg, Chamillionaire's 'Ridin'' was named Best Rap Video and Best Rock Video went to AFI for 'Miss Murder'.
Despite being nominated in seven categories, videos by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Shakira won just one award each: the Red Hot Chili Peppers' 'Dani California' took the award for Best Art Direction in a Video while Shakira's 'Hips Don't Lie' won the Best Choreography in a Video award.
Avenged Sevenfold won Best New Artist in a Video for 'Bat Country'; Fall Out Boy won the Viewers' Choice Award for 'Dance, Dance' and 30 Seconds to Mars won the MTV 2 Award for 'The Kill'.
There were also awards in the technical categories for Gnarls Barkley's 'Crazy' (Best Direction and Best Editing in a Video), Missy Elliott's 'We Run This' (Best Special Effects in a Video) and James Blunt's 'You're Beautiful' (Best Cinematography in a Video).
