Josh Schwartz, the creator and executive producer of 'The OC', is in negotiations to write and executive produce a new series called 'Gossip Girl'.
The Hollywood Reporter says that 'Gossip Girl' is set in the world of teenagers attending private schools in New York and is based on the best-selling series of novels of the same name.
If 'Gossip Girl' reaches TV screens it will be shown on the new CW television network in the US.
'The OC' returns for its fourth series on US television in November.
