The launch of the RTÉ 2fm Tayto Song Contest 2007, to find Ireland's most talented songwriter, took place today with a performance by last year's winner, Joe Cleere.
The competition is now celebrating its 25th year.
Previous winners of this song contest include Naimee Coleman, Dave Geraghty (Bell X1) and Laura Isibor.
This year's judges include Linda Martin, Louis Walsh, RTÉ 2fm DJ Jenny Huston, Richie Taylor from The Evening Herald, The Sunday World's Eddie Rowley, former winner Dave Geraghty of Bell X1 and legendary chairman, Larry Gogan.
The final will take place on 23 February 2007 in Vicar Street and will be hosted by Laura Woods and Aidan Power, the presenters of RTÉ Two's 'The Café'.
Ten shortlisted contestants will perform in front of a live audience and be judged on the night.
The first prize is six days in Pulse Recording Studio plus a 500 CD run of the recorded song.
