The stars taking part in the new series of 'Charity You're A Star' have been stretching their vocal chords in rehearsals ahead of their first live performance on Saturday night.

Among those taking part in the talent show are 'No Frontiers' presenter Kathryn Thomas, former Republic of Ireland soccer player John Aldridge, model Gayle Kaneswaren, 'Fair City' star Maclean Burke (who plays Damien Halpin in the soap) and RTÉ sports commentator Shane O'Donoghue.

Also stretching their vocal chords in the charity show will be double-act tailor Louis Copeland and soccer manager Roddy Collins, TG4 weatherman Daithi O'Sé, 'Fair City' duo Bryan Murray and Una Crawford (who play Bob and Renee in the show), 'Ros na Rún' star Aine Ni Dhroighneain and politicians Billy Kelleher TD (FF), Senator Frank Feighan (FG), Dan Boyle TD (Greens) and Senator Michael McCarthy (Labour).

Speaking about the show earlier this week, Head of Entertainment for RTÉ, Kevin Linehan said: "We are delighted to be bringing back 'Charity You're A Star' - it proved to be a huge winner not just with the audiences last year but also with all the Irish charities that benefited."

The first show in the series will be screened on Saturday 29 July at 6.30pm.
