Arctic Monkeys bass player Andy Nicholson has quit the band, after missing a recent US tour due to "fatigue following an intensive period of touring".
A statement posted on the band's official website yesterday confirmed that Nicholson would not be returning to the band.
The statement said: "We are sad to tell everyone that Andy is no longer with the band."
"We have been mates with Andy for a long time and have been through some amazing things together that no-one can take away. We all wish Andy the very best."
The statement also said: "Nick O'Malley, who stood in for Andy while he was absent from the recent tour of North America, shall carry on playing bass for the remaining shows this summer."
Arctic Monkeys' debut album 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' became the fastest-selling debut album in chart history, when it sold more than 360,000 copies during the first week of its release.
