Singer Charlotte Church has said that she is disillusioned with fame and has warned young girls against chasing a celebrity lifestyle.
The 20-year-old singer, who shot to fame as a 12-year-old, told the Western Mail that she never sought fame.
She said: "If I had to give advice to young girls who want to be famous I'd say unless you have thick skin, like me, and nerves of steel, don't do it."
"Being a teenager is confusing enough without having to read all these conflicting opinions about you in the press."
"I think once you are a bit older and have yourself sorted and know what kind of person you are, you are probably better equipped to deal with it," she said. "That is the stage that I think I've reached now."
The singer also explained that when she shot to fame she was far too young to understand the implications of being in the spotlight.
"It wasn't about fame when I first appeared on television - I was only 12 and I just wanted to sing. To be honest I didn't really understand anything that was going on at that time."
