Plans to release a range of dolls based on chart-topping group the Pussycat Dolls have been scrapped.

Billboard reports that toy giant Hasbro decided the dolls were "inappropriate" and that Pussycat Dolls and their record label Interscope were aiming for a more mature audience.

The US advocacy group Dads & Daughters had campaigned against the planned dolls.

In a statement, Hasbro said: "Interscope's current creative direction and images for the recording group are focused on a much older target than we had anticipated at the time of our original discussions, thereby making a doll line inappropriate for Hasbro."
