James Blunt was a double winner at the Ivor Novello Awards last night, with his hit single 'You're Beautiful' picking up the awards for International Hit of the Year and Most Performed Work.
While accepting the award for Most Performed Work, Blunt said: "I should probably be rude about it before anyone else is, so thank you very much for the Most Overplayed Song award."
KT Tunstall scooped the award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for her hit 'Suddenly I See', which beat Coldplay's 'Fix You' and the Arctic Monkey's 'I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor'.
Accepting her award, Tunstall said: "I started writing songs when I was 15. It's amazing that you're sitting in your room doing something you like doing and suddenly it turns into all this."
Coldplay left empty-handed despite leading the nominations after being shortlisted in three different categories.
The Best Album award went to the Kaiser Chiefs for 'Employment'. Singer Ricky Wilson arrived at the ceremony on crutches after sustaining injuries in a road accident last weekend.
Gorillaz stars Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett were named Songwriters of the Year, and the award for Best Contemporary Song went to Athlete for 'Wires'.
'X Factor' winner Shayne Ward picked up the award for Best Selling UK single for his debut 'That's My Goal'.
The Outstanding Contribution to British Music award went to Ray Davies, and the Bee Gees accepted an Academy Fellowship.
