Pop singer Britney Spears has announced on a US talk show that she is expecting her second child with husband Kevin Federline.
The singer dropped into a taping session for 'Late Show with David Letterman' yesterday to make the announcement, with the brief interview being aired later that day.
Spears walked onto the stage on the talk show wearing a fitted black dress which revealed her baby bump, announcing: "Don't worry Dave, it's not yours".
Host Letterman replied: "Oh. Well, I think that's good news for both of us." He then asked Spears to confirm the news, saying: "So, we've established now that you are in fact pregnant, is that right?". Spears replied: "Yes, sir", prompting applause from the studio audience.
A spokesperson for the show said that the singer's appearance was a surprise to the audience, that had been drafted in earlier in the day.
Spears and Federline, who married in 2004, already have an eight-month-old son called Sean Preston.
