The custom-made dress worn by British actress Keira Knightley at this year's Oscars has raised £4,301.01 for Oxfam in an online auction.

The claret-coloured taffeta silk gown, UK size 6, was designed by Vera Wang for Knightley.

Knightley, whose films include 'Bend It Like Beckham', 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and 'Pride and Prejudice' for which she was Oscar-nominated, had approached Oxfam personally with the gift, which was sold through the eBay website.

She said: "It's brilliant that this dress has raised this much. I know it will go a long way to help the people facing this food crisis in East Africa."
