Police have confirmed that they are investigating Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty after the publication of pictures which claimed to show him injecting drugs into a female fan's arm as she lay unconscious.
The images, one of which showed the singer injecting an unknown substance into himself, were published in The Sun today.
The paper claimed the photographs were taken within the last five weeks at the star's Hackney home.
A police spokesperson said: "Officers from the Specialist Crime Directorate are investigating the drug allegations made in today's Sun newspaper."
Doherty was arrested on suspicion of drugs possession last week only hours after appearing in court on separate drugs charges
