Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty has been arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs, only hours after attending a court hearing over previous drugs offences.
The singer was given two years' probation and ordered to undergo an 18-month narcotics rehabilitation programme at the hearing. He was also banned from driving for six months.
Doherty was later arrested when plain-clothes police officers stopped a car in which he was travelling as part of a routine patrol.
Police confirmed that a 27-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were taken into custody as a result of the patrol in east London.
According to a police statement: "They were arrested on suspicion of possessing what was believed to be Class A drugs with the intent to supply."
Doherty also received 12 months of community service in February of this year for seven separate drugs related charges.
