Irish cartoon PICME licensed to Nickelodeon

Dublin-based Irish animation house Jam Media has licensed its award-winning children's series 'PICME', currently showing on RTÉ, to MTV Networks International for broadcast on Nickelodeon channels across Europe, Asia and Latin America.

JAM Media announced the five-year deal on Tuesday.

The animation series allows parents to post or email photos of their children, which the broadcaster can superimpose on to the characters so that the child appears to be interacting with the cartoon characters.

The series - aimed at two to five-year-olds - was launched on RTÉ in September 2004 and recently won the Grand Prix and digital storytelling awards at the Digital Media Awards.

Jules Borkent, Vice President of programming at Nickelodeon International, said: "Nickelodeon is about making kids a part of the channel and 'PICME' meets the brand's philosophy on every level. The show's stories are engaging and fun."
