Mercury Music Prize nominees the Magic Numbers are to enter the studio next month to begin recording their second album.

Billboard reports that the quartet will record the album at upstate New York's Allaire Studios, which has recently been used by Ryan Adams, My Morning Jacket and Secret Machines.

The album will be produced by the band and Richard Wilkinson, who mixed the Magic Numbers' 2005 debut.

The band plan to release the album in October; they will support Morrissey at his Dublin show in Marlay Park on 22 August.
