Author Dennis O'Driscoll officially launched RTÉ Radio's special edition CD box set of Beckett's Three Novels - 'Molloy', 'Malone Dies' and 'The Unnamable' - at The Long Room at Trinity College Dublin yesterday evening.
Actor Barry McGovern, producer Tim Lehane and sound engineer Mark Duff spent over eight months together in studio recording this collaborative work for RTÉ Radio, supported by the Lannan Foundation.
Beckett scholar Gerry Dukes wrote the informative introduction which accompanies the CD.
Launching the Three Novels Dennis O'Driscoll said: "It is particularly important that there is a permanently available recording of Barry McGovern reading Beckett's trilogy as Barry is the definitive, contemporary interpreter of Beckett's work."
RTÉ Radio will broadcast the entire CD production continuously from beginning to end on RTÉ Radio 1, MW and LW from 5.30am on the centenary of Beckett's birth - 13 April 2006.
Beckett fans and scholars can read remarks from Barry McGovern, Tim Lehane and Mark Duff on the making of Beckett's Three Novels on the RTÉ Beckett 100 website: www.rte.ie/beckett100
