As part of the Beckett Centenary celebrations, the Irish Film Institute will present a selection of films relating to the work of Samuel Beckett at screenings in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Sligo and Belfast during April.
The diverse programme will include films such as Anthony Minghella's 'Play', starring Alan Rickman and Kristin Scott Thomas; David Mamet's 'Catastrophe' with John Gielgud in his last film role; and the definitive film version of 'Waiting for Godot'.
The IFI in Dublin is the first stop on the tour, from 14 to 16 April, and will feature a discussion on the challenges facing those who have translated Beckett's work for film - the panel will include acclaimed filmmaker Anthony Minghella, along with Alan Gilsenan, and will be hosted by Hugh Linehan of The Irish Times.
The Eye Cinema in Galway run their programme from 17 to 19 April. This will include a discussion on Beckett's work featuring award-winning filmmaker Atom Egoyan.
Queens Film Theatre in Belfast host their selection of films from 18 to 20 April, while Triskel Arts Centre in Cork immediately follow Belfast with their screenings taking place between 21 and 23 April.
The Model Arts Centre in Sligo is the final stop on the tour, from 23 to 26 April.
