'Operation Easter', a new play by Donal O'Kelly, will get its world premiere at Kilmainham Gaol this April to mark the 90th anniversary of Easter 1916.
The play will be staged by the award-winning theatre company Calypso Productions, in association with the Office of Public Works.
'Operation Easter' is described as casting a searing light on the aspirations and effects of the 1916 Rising, combining life stories and recorded oratory of the participants.
It was written by award-winning playwright and actor Donal O'Kelly and will be directed by Bairbre Ni Chaoimh, Artistic director of Calypso Productions and Associate Director at The Abbey Theatre.
'Operation Easter' will star Donal O'Kelly, Gerry Lee, Tom Jordan Murphy, Phelim Drew, Mary Murray, Arthur Riordan, Luke Griffin, Ruaidhri Conroy and Solomon Ijigade.
It runs from Monday 24 April at 8pm. Tickets, costing €20, will be available from the Central Ticket Bureau from 10 April.
