Paul Greengrass has written and directed a film about the events of 9/11 on United Airlines Flight 93 which is due for release on 1 September 2006.

United Airlines Flight 93 was one of the planes hijacked on 11 September 2001. It crashed in a Pennsylvania field when passengers and crew members fought back and foiled the terrorist plot.

'United 93' recreates the doomed trip in actual time - from takeoff to hijacking to the realisation by passengers that their plane was part of a coordinated attack.

Greengrass has partially improvised the events with an ensemble cast of unknown actors who were given studies of their 'United 93' counterparts.

Greengrass, who is best known for his work on documentary-style films 'Omagh' and 'Bloody Sunday', has also directed 'The Bourne Supremacy'.

He is currently working on 'They Marched Into Sunlight', an adaptation of David Maraniss' Vietnam War-era book.
