BBC radio broadcaster John Peel's posthumous autobiography, 'Margrave of the Marshes', is in the running for the WH Smith Book of the Year award.

The book was finished by his wife Sheila after Peel's unexpected death in October 2004.

It is in competition against JK Rowling's 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince', 'Jamie's Italy' by Jamie Oliver and Sharon Osbourne's autobiography 'Extreme'.

The awards, which are now in their 17th year, are the only book awards to be decided by public vote. The annual ceremony takes place in London next month.
