Bono had lunch with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at his presidential retreat yesterday.
Local media said that Bono wanted to discuss fighting poverty with the President.
U2 will play two concerts in Sao Paulo tonight and tomorrow.
The lunch was also attended by legendary musician Gilberto Gil, who is also Brazil's Minister of Culture.
