Spanish actor Javier Bardem is to star in the film adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's novel 'Love in the Time of Cholera'.
The novel follows romantic young man Florentino Ariza, to be played by Bardem, who spends 50 years waiting for the girl of his dreams.
Mike Newell will direct a screenplay which has been penned by Ronald Harwood, who won an Oscar for 'The Pianist'.
Bardem received an Oscar nomination 2001's 'Before Night Falls' and recently starred in Alejandro Amenabar's 'The Sea Inside'.
