The sudden death of 'Reservoir Dogs' actor Chris Penn in January was yesterday ruled accidental by the Los Angeles County Coroner's office.
The coroner's office stated that the primary cause of the 40-year-old's death was "nonspecific cardiomyopathy" - an enlarged heart - with the "effects of multiple medication intake."
Spokesman Craig Harvey said: "There is absolutely no indication that this is anything but an accident. We know he had several prescriptions, including promethazine with codeine, which featured predominantly in his death. We don't know how much he ingested or when. There are a lot of 'what ifs' to be factored in."
An autopsy had previously ruled out foul play or suicide.
His brother, fellow actor Sean Penn, issued a statement last month asking for privacy for the family.
Penn's latest film, comedy adventure 'The Darwin Awards' premiered at last month's Sundance Film Festival.
