Ridley Scott is in talks to direct Oscar winners Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington in the crime drama 'American Gangster'.
Variety reports that the film tells the story of a New York heroin kingpin who devised a plan to smuggle drugs in the coffins of soldiers returning from the Vietnam War.
If the film goes ahead, Washington would play the drug dealer, with Crowe playing a police officer.
It is hoped that the film would begin shooting in the summer.
Crowe and Washington previously starred opposite each other in the film 'Virtuosity'.
