Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty has been ordered to complete 12 months of community service after pleading guilty to possession of heroin.
The 26-year-old singer appeared at Ealing Magistrates Court today to answer a drugs charge relating to his arrest on 26 January last.
He had been held in police custody since his arrest in east London by plain clothes police officers, who searched him after noting that he looked dishevelled and was a known drugs user.
Police allegedly found a wrap of white powder in the pocket of his jeans when he was searched.
Mr Doherty has also been ordered to attend a drug rehabilitation programme.
