Actor Ralph Fiennes and his partner Francesa Annis are to separate after 11 years together, according to a statement issued by Annis's lawyers.
Fiennes (43), who is currently starring in 'Faith Healer' at the Gate Theatre in Dublin, met 61-year-old Annis when she played his mother in a production of 'Hamlet' in 1995.
Annis's solicitors confirmed the split, saying: "Ms Annis confirms today that she and Ralph Fiennes are to separate."
The actress also confirmed that she had begun legal proceedings against the Daily Mail for defamation and invasion of privacy over a story which claimed that she had forgiven Fiennes for an alleged affair.
