Baz Luhrmann is to begin shooting his new period romance starring Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe in July or August.
Describing the project as "epic", Production Weekly says that the film has been compared to 'Gone With the Wind'.
The film takes place around the time of World War Two.
It will be shot in the Kimberley region of Western Australia on sets created by Luhrmann.
