Arctic Monkeys' album 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' has become the fastest-selling debut album of all time.
The album, which was released on 23 January, has sold over 360,000 copies to date, beating the previous record, which was held by pop group HearSay, after they won the reality television show 'Popstars'.
A spokesperson for HMV said: "In the space of just a few weeks the Arctic Monkeys have gone from being relative newcomers to becoming a household name."
"People rightly draw comparisons with Oasis, but in terms of sheer impact, where a band has come from virtual obscurity to achieve huge, overnight chart success, we haven't seen anything quite like this since The Beatles."
Among the group's hit singles are 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' and 'When The Sun Goes Down'.
