The 2,301st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame now belongs to Motley Crüe.
The heavy metal band, who formed in Los Angeles in 1981, were one of the first and most influential hair metal bands of the eighties.
Since then they have endured a series of well-publicised mishaps and run-ins with the law, break-ups, drugs, accidents and overdoses - as well as a bestselling, over-the-top, tell-all biography called 'The Dirt'.
Bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee, guitarist Mick Mars, singer Vince Neil and an estimated 600 screaming fans were present at yesterday's ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard.
Their eighties hits included singles such as 'Girls Girls Girls, 'Smokin' in the Boys Room' and 'Dr Feelgood'. The band have sold 40 million albums.
In 1999, Motley Crüe disbanded but constant reunion rumours came true in late 2004 when they announced dates for a full circus-themed Carnival of Sins tour in 2005, their first in more than six years.
