A set of prints by Irish-based artist Nigel Rolfe will be on show at the Graphic Studio Gallery in Dublin's Temple Bar from Friday 3 February.
The show is entitled Flowers: Absence and Loss 2006 and these prints are a recent development taken from various past projects where flowers are used as a basis for memory or loss.
Rolfe, although originally from the Isle of Wight, moved to Dublin in 1975 and continues to live and work here. In 2000 he was elected to Aosdána.
His art involves many mediums, including sound, film, photography, print and performance.
He is also heavily involved in art education being a senior Course Tutor in Royal College of Art in London and Senior Critic in Universities in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, London, Chelsea and the National College of Art and Design, Dublin.
Retrospectives of his video and photographic work have appeared at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (1994), the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (1996), and the University of Salamanca in Spain (2001).
His video works have been exhibited at the Kwangju and Sao Paulo Biennials.
Rolfe will discuss the exhibition at 1pm on Tuesday 7 February and bookings for this can be made through the Graphic Studio Gallery at gsg@iol.ie
