Burns - Coat controversy continues
Burns - Coat controversy continues

British police investigating 'Celebrity Big Brother' contestant Pete Burns' coat have referred the matter to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Experts from the Natural History Museum in the UK have confirmed that the coat is not made from gorilla fur but instead originates from the Guereza species of black and white colobus monkeys.

The importation of colobus monkey fur has been illegal in the UK since 1975.

The authorities will now try to ascertain when the coat was bought or imported.

A police spokesperson said: "The constabulary has a duty to investigate any allegation of a criminal offence being committed as expeditiously as possible."
