Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty pleaded guilty to drug possession when he appeared in a London court this morning.

The singer admitted two charges of possessing Class A drugs, which were found when police searched his car on 30 November.

Prosecutor Bryony Darbyshire told the magistrates that police officers found three packets of heroin and one packet of cocaine in the car.

Doherty was then tested for drugs at a police station and proved positive for cocaine and opiates.

The former Libertines singer arrived late to court.

His lawyer said that traffic difficulties and press activity were responsible for the delay.
