RTÉ's 'Killinaskully - A Christmas Carol' was the top rating television programme with Irish viewers across all Irish television channels this Christmas.

Figures compiled by Nielsen Research show that the comedy special attracted an average audience of over 825,000 viewers on RTÉ One on Christmas Day.

RTÉ One had a greater proportion of viewers than any of the three other Irish channels on Christmas Day.

'Fair City' attracted an average audience of 574,000 viewers or a 36% share.

RTÉ's premiere of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl' attracted 623,000 viewers or 35% of the available audience.

Last Christmas 'Killinaskully - the Nativity' also topped the Christmas Day ratings with an average audience of 814,000 viewers.
