Williams - Tickets for Croke Park date were snapped up in record time

Tickets for Robbie Williams' Croke Park date next June sold out in just 20 minutes, after going on sale this morning.

The 80,000 tickets allocated for the concert on 9 June 2006 were snapped up in record time at outlets around the country.

Eamonn O'Connor, Managing Director of Ticketmaster Ireland said: "It was a ticket lottery, we could have sold out three Croke Parks and still not supplied the huge demand for tickets"

Tickets went on sale at 8am online, over the telephone and at Ticketmaster agents nationwide, limited to four tickets per person.

Gardaí were consulted ahead of the sale of tickets and extra security personnel employed at many ticket sales outlets in order to ensure the safety of fans queuing to buy tickets.
